Seniors First, the Shenandoah Area Agency on Aging, was incorporated in July of 1975, and is the only comprehensive regional provider of support services that enables older persons to continue living in their own homes. As our older population increases, our services will be even more critical in controlling long-term care costs and providing in-home care for our elderly friends and neighbors.
Throughout the Northern Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Seniors First offers a variety of high-quality services that provide in-home support, delaying or preventing a move to more costly long-term care facilities.
Seniors First enhances the dignity and independence of older persons by facilitating staying active and providing opportunities for community service. In addition, Seniors First supports care partners of older adults, which often enables spouses and family members to continue in the workforce.
Seniors First receives federal, state, and local jurisdictional funding, but the needs of older residents and their caregivers continue to exceed these resources. Individual, corporate and faith-based community support are critical to help Seniors First meet the diverse needs in our community.
