In observance of March for Meals, the Warren County Senior Center held its Cookie Contest last Thursday. The winning recipe – No-Bake Chocolate, Peanut Butter & Oatmeal Cookies (Cow Patties)  – was made by Pearl Bell. In addition to her blue ribbon, she received a $35 gift card. Second Place Winner was Dot Sealock and Third place went to Mary Crabbe.  Our Community Champions and judges for this contest were: Warren County Chairperson, Linda Glavis and Archie Fox, Supervisor of the Warren County Board of Supervisors and Vickie Harris-Williams, Senior Sales & Marketing Director with Commonwealth Senior Living and SAAA Advisory Council Chairperson.

 

No Bake Cow Patties (Addictive) made by Pearl Bell

Add ½ cup butter, 2 cups sugar, ½ cup milk, and 4 Tablespoons Cocoa Powder to a 4-qt. sauce pan.  Bring to a rolling boil and let boil for 1-minute.  Remove from heat.  Stir in ½ cup peanut butter and  2 Tablespoons Vanilla Extract until smooth.  Then stir in 3 cups of oats.   Drop by heaping tablespoonsful onto wax paper –lined baking sheets.  Let cool until set.
