"MEALS ON WHEELS"
SAAA’s
“Meals on Wheels” program provides homebound seniors a
nutritious hot meal delivered to their home. Five meals per week are
provided. Hot meals are delivered four days per week, along with a
fifth frozen meal.

Meals are delivered Monday through Thursday in
Frederick and Page counties and the City of Winchester; and Tuesday
through Friday in Clarke, Shenandoah and Warren counties.
Clients
are charged for “Meals on Wheels” on a sliding fee scale according to
income.
Eligibility Criteria

Home Delivered meals are
available to seniors who are aged 60 and older and homebound.

You must be a resident of
Planning District 7, which includes the counties of Clarke,
Frederick, Page, Shenandoah, Warren and the City of Winchester.

Priority is given to
individuals with the greatest economic and social need, with
preference to low-income persons residing in rural or geographically
isolated areas.

The senior must be unable
to prepare a nutritious mid-day meal, with no one available or
willing to prepare the meal for them. Spouses and disabled
dependents, regardless of age, may also qualify.

An SAAA case manager must
certify eligibility.
