CALENDAR OF EVENTS March - "National Meals on Wheels" Month This month SAAA is dedicated to raising awareness within the community of the ongoing need to provide meals to senior residents who have not been able to leave their homes. Helping older persons with their meals allows them to stay in their homes longer. The Shenandoah Area Agency on Aging offers a variety of services that provide in-home support, such as meals, thus delaying or preventing a move to long-term care facilities. The cost of each meal to be prepared and delivered is $8.00 per day (1 meal 5 days a week) or $1,200.00 per year. Your support is greatly needed. Please visit our contributions page to make your donation. March 1, 2007 - "Millions for Meals & Service" - 1 million signatures = 1 million dollars. The SAAA will be placing "Guest Books" throughout the local communities asking for signatures and donations to support the many areas of need within the agency. Imagine the impact this campaign will have in our community if everyone donates just $1.00 and our guest book contain one million signatures! This will be an ongoing campaign until we meet our million dollar and signature goal. Each donation slip will be sold for $1.00. Please visit a location and show your support. April 14, 2007 - ERA Day - ERA Brown & Rutherford will be hosting a family fun event to benefit the SAAA. This event will be held at the Warren County Senior Center. For more information please contact ERA at (540) 636-6121. May 12, 2007 - "Sharing our Daily Bread" Walk-A-Thon. The Walk-A-Thon will be hold at Westminster Canterbury in Winchester. Teams of 5 who are committed to raising $500.00 to benefit SAAA programs are invited to participate. Breakfast, door prizes, Tee-Shirts and fun will be on hand. Registration and breakfast starts at 8:00 AM. Business sponsorships are available for the walk.
